Walking & Transit: The Perfect Pair
Walking and transit make an ideal combination for commuting. Even if you don’t live close enough to walk all the way to work, you can still incorporate walking by using Metrorail, Metrobus, or Ride On—and walking the last stretch to your workplace.
Walking is free—and so is Ride On! Montgomery County’s Ride On bus service is currently fare-free, making it easier and more affordable than ever to commute sustainably.
Thanks to Montgomery County’s FareShare Program and the Maryland Commuter Tax Credit, employers can also save significantly by offering transit benefits to their employees.
An Eco-Friendly Commute
Choosing walking and transit helps reduce your environmental footprint:
• Go Green on Metro: Metro is adopting hybrid buses, compressed natural gas (CNG), and clean diesel technologies.
• Cleaner Ride On Buses: Ride On continues replacing older buses with vehicles that run on clean-burning fuels to reduce emissions.
